High temperatures can affect both performance and safety when using battery-powered tools. Here are some quick tips to help you protect your tools—and yourself—during extreme heat:
Avoid Direct Sunlight
Keep tools and batteries out of direct sunlight when not in use. Prolonged exposure can degrade battery cells or trigger overheat protection.
Store in a Shaded, Cool Area
Store batteries and chargers in a well-ventilated space, ideally below 86°F (30°C). Heat shortens battery life.
Let Batteries Cool Before Charging
Never charge a battery immediately after heavy use in high heat—wait 15–30 minutes for it to cool.
Don’t Leave Tools in Hot Vehicles
Car interiors can exceed 130°F (54°C) in summer—enough to cause battery damage or thermal shutdown.
Work in Early Morning or Late Afternoon
Avoid using tools outdoors during 12–6 PM, when heat and UV exposure are strongest.
Use Break Intervals
Give both yourself and your tool a break—pause every 15–30 minutes during extended jobs in high heat.
Monitor Performance
If you feel reduced power or sudden shutdown, it’s likely due to thermal protection kicking in—let the tool cool down.
Hydrate & Protect Yourself
Wear breathable clothing, stay hydrated, and use sunscreen—safety starts with the user.
