Beginning March 15, 2026, the Town of Arlington, Massachusetts will fully prohibit the use of gas-powered leaf blowers. The ban applies to both residential and commercial use. Violations may result in fines of up to $200.

The policy is intended to:

• Reduce neighborhood noise pollution

• Cut emissions from small off-road engines

• Accelerate the transition to electric outdoor equipment

Following implementation, residents and landscaping contractors must use electric or battery-powered leaf blowers. Electric equipment that complies with local noise regulations remains permitted.
