As winter comes to an end, it’s important to prepare your snow blower for off-season storage. Proper maintenance now will help ensure it runs smoothly when the next snow season arrives.
1. Clean the machine thoroughly
Remove any remaining snow, salt, and debris from the auger, chute, and housing. Salt and moisture can cause rust if left on the machine.
2. Empty or stabilize the fuel
If your snow blower uses gasoline, drain the fuel tank or add a fuel stabilizer to prevent fuel degradation during storage.
3. Inspect key components
Check belts, spark plugs, and bolts to ensure everything is secure and in good condition. Replace worn parts if necessary.
4. Lubricate moving parts
Apply lubricant to the auger and other moving components to prevent corrosion and keep parts operating smoothly.
5. Store in a dry, protected area
Keep the snow blower in a garage or shed where it is protected from moisture and dust.
Proper storage helps extend the life of your equipment and ensures your snow blower will be ready for the next winter season.
