Earlier this week in Forrestfield, Western Australia, a family narrowly escaped a devastating house fire sparked by a lithium-ion battery used for power tools. The blaze broke out in the early morning hours, forcing the family and their pets to flee.

So far in 2025, Western Australia has seen over 100 fires linked to overheating or exploding batteries. As temperatures rise, the risk of battery-related incidents increases significantly.

Battery Safety Tips

  • Never charge or store batteries in direct sunlight or hot vehicles

  • Use only original chargers and avoid overcharging

  • Keep batteries away from flammable surfaces (like beds, curtains, or wooden shelves)

  • If a battery is swollen, overheating, or smells strange—stop using it immediately and dispose of it properly

SnapFresh reminds all users: With summer heat intensifying, please handle battery-powered tools responsibly to protect your home and loved ones.
